Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as host of the TV program Meet the Press. She was a member of an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, such as fiscal reform, the budget and The Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
